Agonist A molecule that binds to a receptor and activates it, producing a response.

B

Bioregulator A very short peptide (often two to four amino acids) proposed to influence how genes are expressed in a specific tissue.

E

Evidence tier Peptide.it's four-level rating of how strong the evidence behind a claim is.

G

GHRH Growth hormone releasing hormone, the body's own signal to release growth hormone.
GLP-1 A gut hormone (glucagon-like peptide-1) that lowers blood sugar and reduces appetite.

H

Half-life The time it takes for half of a substance to be cleared from the body.

I

In vitro An experiment done in a dish or test tube, outside a living organism.

P

Peptide A short chain of amino acids, the same building blocks that make up proteins.
